Democrats' Rules Panel Recommends South Carolina Go First in 2028 Presidential Voting

A Democratic Party rules panel voted July 24, 2026, to recommend South Carolina hold the first Democratic presidential primary of 2028 on January 22. In primaries, state voters choose their party's presidential nominee. Nevada and New Hampshire would vote next, then New Mexico, Michigan, and Virginia. The full party votes on the plan in August 2026.
