Virus sweeps Pogačar's UAE team as McNulty abandons Tour stage 18

A virus spreading through Tadej Pogačar's UAE Team Emirates XRG squad forced Brandon McNulty to abandon stage 18 with 21 km left. Tim Wellens reported a sore throat at the start; Florian Vermeersch and Wellens both struggled on the road. Adam Yates has fought a stomach infection since stage 17. Pogačar leads the GC by 4:32 over Evenepoel, with Alpe d'Huez stages looming Friday and Saturday.
