
LAPD Ends Flock Safety Contract Over Civil Liberties Concerns
The LAPD let its contract with Flock Safety — a $7.5 billion Atlanta startup selling license plate recognition and surveillance tech to law enforcement, including ICE — expire in July 2026, citing civil liberties and privacy concerns. Amazon's Ring dropped its Flock partnership in February 2026. CEO Garrett Langley is set to address the tradeoffs at TechCrunch Disrupt in October.
