National proposes first affirmative consent definition in NZ law

National wants the first affirmative consent definition written into statute, Justice spokesperson Paul Goldsmith told RNZ. The Crimes Act lists what consent is not but never defines what it is. Goldsmith says the law should require active agreement — a "yes" — rather than the absence of a "no." No draft bill or timetable has been given.
