National proposes first affirmative consent definition in NZ law

The National Party wants an affirmative definition of sexual consent written into statute for the first time. Justice spokesperson Paul Goldsmith told RNZ the law should require active agreement — a "yes" — rather than the absence of a "no." The Crimes Act currently lists what consent is not but does not define what it is. No draft legislation or timetable has been given.
