MP seeks Commons memorial to Ann Widdecombe as counter-terrorism police investigate her death

Conservative MP Helen Grant has asked the Commons Speaker to back a parliamentary memorial to Ann Widdecombe, calling her "a formidable Parliamentarian" who served for 23 years. Grant succeeded Widdecombe in 2010. She said a memorial would acknowledge the threat violence poses to democracy. Counter-terrorism police are treating the 78-year-old's death as a targeted attack. A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.
