Telstra admits triple zero outage was preventable

Telstra told a Senate inquiry a five-hour national triple zero outage on 15 July — which disrupted 604 emergency calls — could have been avoided by replacing a 15-year-old server (about $30,000) or installing a software update that never went in. CEO Vicki Brady conceded the company's controls weren't good enough.
