Telstra says a $30,000 fix could have stopped triple zero going down

Telstra told a Senate inquiry that a five-hour triple zero outage on 15 July — which disrupted 604 emergency calls — could have been prevented. A 15-year-old computer costing about $30,000 needed replacing, or a software update needed installing. Neither happened. CEO Vicki Brady admitted the company's safeguards weren't good enough.
