New Zealand and Switzerland to start trade talks, first round in September

Trade Minister Todd McClay and Switzerland's State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda agreed in Auckland on 16 July 2026 to begin trade discussions. Officials meet in September. Two-way trade totalled $1.88 billion in 2025. Switzerland is outside the EU, so these bilateral talks sit apart from the 2023 EU-NZ free trade deal.
