New Zealand and Switzerland agree to begin trade talks, first meeting in September

Trade Minister Todd McClay and Swiss State Secretary for Economic Affairs Helene Budliger Artieda agreed to begin bilateral trade discussions after meeting in Auckland on 16 July 2026. Officials will hold the first meeting under the new trade dialogue in September. Two-way trade was worth $1.88 billion in 2025. Switzerland is not an EU member; the dialogue runs separately from the 2023 EU-NZ deal.
