Chinese AC Maker Midea Brands Its Product "German-Engineered, Italian-Designed" for Europe

Chinese appliance giant Midea markets its PortaSplit air conditioner as featuring "German engineering" from its Stuttgart R&D center and "Italian design." The plug-in unit, needing no installation, sold out across Europe after a May 2026 heatwave. Europe chief Ralph Kobsik told the BBC the company sees "considerable long-term growth potential in Europe."
