England to Restrict High-Caffeine Energy Drinks for Under-16s

England will ban sales of drinks with over 150mg of caffeine per litre to under-16s from April 2027, covering shops, vending machines, and online. Tea and coffee are exempt. Local authorities will enforce the rule, with fines up to £2,500. The government cited child health and obesity concerns — roughly 100,000 children consume such drinks daily. Some retailers already restrict sales voluntarily.
