Starmer names 26 peers, including Sadiq Khan, before leaving office
Sir Keir Starmer nominated 26 new peers — unelected members of the House of Lords — as one of his final acts before stepping down as Prime Minister on Monday. London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan is among 16 Labour nominees. The cross-party list includes five Liberal Democrats, three Conservatives and two crossbenchers. Reform UK received none. Downing Street described the appointments as "political peerages."
