UN warns 15.4 million people in Sudan need emergency shelter, but funding covers only about 10% of those in need

UNHCR and IOM, the UN refugee and migration agencies, warned on November 6, 2026, that about 15.4 million people in Sudan urgently need emergency shelter and basic household items. Funding shortfalls mean agencies can prioritise shelter aid for only about 10 percent of those in need. So far, 936,000 people have received shelter help.
