Government defers climate adaptation funding decisions

The Government has pushed decisions on how climate adaptation costs will be split between central and local government to the next parliamentary term. Climate Change Minister Simon Watts said it was "simply not at that point." LGNZ says cost-sharing must be a priority, as some councils cannot afford adaptation alone. Opōtiki's mayor says his council "may not even survive."
