Everton's £38.8m payment cuts Burnley's loss to £9m

Burnley's 2025-26 loss fell to £9 million, against £24-29 million in each of the previous three seasons, because Everton paid £38.8 million in compensation. Without that payment, the loss would have been a record £47.8 million. The payment is under appeal, expected to be heard in January, with outcomes ranging from nil to full repayment. The board has made no provision for it.
