Poundland owner reportedly prefers breaking up chain over rescue bid
Poundland's owner, Gordon Brothers, is understood to prefer breaking up the 600-store chain over a rescue offer from Martin Property Group, backed by Poundland's management. A break-up would sell stock and stores to other retailers, including Tesco. Poundland filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators, a formal step giving time for a rescue, on 29 October.
