Digital became the largest source of music publishing royalties in 2025

Digital services paid 6.41 billion euros ($7.25 billion) in music publishing royalties in 2025, up 28% from 5.01 billion euros in 2024, according to CISAC's Global Collections Report 2026, as reported by Billboard on 4 November 2026. Publishing royalties are payments to songwriters and their publishers. Digital made up 45.6% of the total, the largest share.
