UK designates Iran's Revolutionary Guard a criminal offence to support

Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood has used powers under the National Security (State Threats) Act to designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps a threat to national security. Supporting or assisting the IRGC now carries up to 14 years in prison. The move ends UK reluctance to act on a designation the EU and US made years ago, following sustained parliamentary pressure.
