International Publishers Association Launches Freedom of Expression Defenders Award

The International Publishers Association (IPA), the global body representing book publishers, launched a new prize in 2026: the IPA Freedom of Expression Defenders Award. It recognises groups and projects doing day-to-day work to protect the freedom to publish and speak openly. IPA President Gvantsa Jobava described the award in a Publishing Perspectives interview published on 30 October 2026.
