Weil, Gotshal Plans Wind-Down Instead of Chapter 11

Weil, Gotshal & Manges, a nearly century-old law firm, told partners on October 28, 2026 it plans to wind down rather than file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A Chapter 11 filing would put the process under court supervision; a wind-down outside it would set creditor payments (owed to lenders) and partner capital through private agreements, none yet public.
