Epic Games confirms generative AI use across Fortnite and Unreal Engine 6

Epic Games has confirmed it uses generative AI across its work, from Fortnite to Unreal Engine 6. Marcus Wassmer, executive vice president of development, told Eurogamer on 28 October 2026 that almost all current development runs in streams attached to Fortnite, the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) and Unreal Engine 6. No release dates or role counts were given.
