FCC to Vote November 19 on Prison Contraband Cellphone Jamming

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr announced in Little Rock, Arkansas, that the agency will vote November 19 on proposed rules allowing prisons to jam (block the signals of) contraband cellphones. Carr said the devices have been used to order hits and coordinate gang violence. The draft requires containment areas, testing under an experimental license, and advance notice to carriers and 911 authorities.
