Judge Rules Bill Essayli Is Serving Unlawfully as Los Angeles Top Prosecutor

A federal judge ruled that Bill Essayli is not legally serving as the top U.S. prosecutor in Los Angeles. Judge Michael Seabright found he was serving unlawfully even with "special attorney" and "first assistant" titles. Essayli was barred from overseeing two criminal prosecutions. The order is not yet in effect, and the Justice Department said it intends to appeal.
