Painting Traced to Hitler's Berlin Home Belonged to Amsterdam Family Whose Firm the Nazis Seized
Carl Gottlieb Peschel's Joseph Sold by His Brothers (1831) spent time in Adolf Hitler's Berlin home, according to research by Diederik Oostdijk of the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam. The painting belonged to Bob Nijkerk; the Nazis seized his family's firm in 1941. Seven descendants have not filed a restitution claim. It is in the Martin von Wagner Museum, Würzburg, Germany.
