Platner Suspends Maine Senate Campaign But Stays on the Ballot

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner suspended his campaign Wednesday after Jenny Racicot accused him of sexual assault in 2021. Platner denies it. He announced the suspension in a video but hasn't formally withdrawn from the ballot. State rules let him until July 13 to formally drop out, or Maine Democrats face running an inactive candidate against Republican incumbent Susan Collins.
