Platner Suspends Maine Senate Campaign But Stays on Ballot

Maine Democratic Senate candidate Graham Platner suspended his campaign Wednesday after Jenny Racicot alleged he sexually assaulted her in 2021. Platner denies the accusation. He announced the suspension in a video but has not formally withdrawn from the ballot. State rules give him until Monday, July 13, to withdraw formally, or Maine Democrats risk running against an inactive candidate in the general election against incumbent Republican Sen. Susan Collins.
