Disney Live Action Acquires Film Rights to Divine Rivals After Paramount Rights Lapse

Disney Live Action has acquired the film rights to Rebecca Ross's fantasy romance novel Divine Rivals, Deadline reported on 27 October 2026. Paramount had won the rights in June 2025 after a bidding war, but they lapsed before Disney's deal. Disney is bringing in a new screenwriter, and Paramount-era development was not carried over. No release date has been announced.
