Finland and Norway's Leaders Call Putin, First European Contact Since July 2025

Finnish President Alexander Stubb and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre phoned Russian President Vladimir Putin on 27 October, the first European leaders to contact him since French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with him in July 2025. Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said she was very sceptical of the dialogue, which was not coordinated with other leaders.
