Telstra's July 8 network failure left some customers unable to reach emergency services. The problem wasn't the main outage itself — it was a secondary fault that broke the failover system designed to switch calls to rival carriers. Triple-zero is supposed to work on any network. The glitch emerged around 9:30pm, hours after the outage supposedly ended. Telstra made over 300 welfare checks on affected call attempts.
