Chinese dairy producer Mengniu and drinks company Dongpeng have dropped French footballer Kylian Mbappé as a sponsor after a backlash over reported comments about Mao Zedong, China's former leader. Mbappé reportedly said on French talk show The Bridge that a meme he finds funniest shows a man he thinks is a Chinese dictator. The clips are unverified.
