King Charles begins Caribbean tour without planned formal slavery apology
King Charles begins a nine-day Caribbean tour on 27 October, visiting the Bahamas, Guyana and Antigua and Barbuda. Following government advice, he will not issue a formal apology for Britain's role in the transatlantic slave trade. Campaigners have called for one. The government has ruled out paying reparations, or compensation for past wrongs.
