FTC and 20 States Sue Dollar General Over Alleged Register Overcharges
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the US consumer protection agency, and 20 states sued Dollar General on October 26, 2026, in federal court in Nashville. The lawsuit alleges the chain routinely charged customers more at the register than prices shown on shelves, tags and advertisements. Dollar General is the nation's largest dollar-store chain, with more than 20,000 stores.
