Collector Charles Greig gives 50 works of Indian-context art to Tate outright

British academic Charles Greig, an expert in Indian art, has given 50 artworks outright to Tate, the group of art museums in Britain. ArtNews reported the gift. The works, by 18th- and 19th-century artists who worked in India, include oil paintings, watercolours and miniatures. Greig did not use tax incentives. Tate called the gift an "entirely philanthropic act".
