Peres Jepchirchir Provisionally Suspended After Positive EPO Test

Olympic marathon champion Peres Jepchirchir has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit after an out-of-competition sample tested positive for EPO, a hormone that raises red blood cell count. She provided the sample in Kenya before winning the Sydney Marathon on 30 August in 2:18:31. A provisional suspension is temporary, not a final decision, and her case remains open.
