Part of Brighton's West Pier Falls Into the Sea in Storm Austen

Part of Brighton's West Pier, a structure on the city's seafront, fell into the sea on 23 October 2026 after being battered by wind and waves from Storm Austen, the first named storm of the season. The Met Office had forecast strong winds for parts of the UK from late Thursday through Friday.
