Publishers Issue Takedowns Against AI-Assisted Browser Ports of Halo, Vice City and Black Ops
Unofficial browser ports of Halo: Combat Evolved, Vice City and Black Ops were apparently decompiled, or reverse-engineered back into source code, with AI assistance, Heise reported October 13. Publishers are responding with takedowns. The browser Halo build reportedly includes working split-screen co-op and multiplayer, according to 80.lv's October 5 report. Decompilation rebuilds games to run on unintended hardware.
