Kore-eda Hirokazu used a generative AI chatbot, which he nicknamed 'Chat-kun', on the screenplay for Sheep in the Box, going back and forth with it several times before stopping, he told Variety on 23 October 2026. He says no AI was used on the finished film and he intends to keep it out of the process as far as possible.
