Malawi's main opposition demands explanation for President Mutharika's prolonged South Africa stay

Malawi's main opposition party, the Malawi Congress Party (MCP), has demanded an explanation for President Peter Mutharika's prolonged stay in South Africa. Mutharika, 86, left on 6 October for what officials call a private visit, his fifth trip there this year. The party has called on Vice-President Jane Ansah to address the nation. The government denies a leadership vacuum.
