Australian MP Helen Haines critically injured in attack, PM says

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said on October 19 that independent MP Helen Haines was critically injured in an attack he described as apparently deliberate. On October 21, her husband said both her legs had been amputated. Police allege Brendan Nugent, 43, drove into her outside her Wangaratta office. He has been charged; the allegations have not been tested in court.
