Ngarewa-Packer steps back from campaign after mother's death

Te Pāti Māori co-leader Debbie Ngarewa-Packer has stepped back from election campaigning after her mother's death, RNZ reported on 20 October. Her mother died surrounded by whānau and friends at the whānau home in Patea. Ngarewa-Packer had already scaled back debates and campaign events in September while her mother was unwell.
