Whalefall Studio Pushed for Added Epilogue After Test Screenings

20th Century Studios pushed for an epilogue to Whalefall after test screenings, director Brian Duffield told The Hollywood Reporter on 20 October 2026. The epilogue was meant to give audiences a sense of family closure. Duffield and star Austin Abrams had preferred to end with Jay being fished out of the water.
