Victorian Labor promises $30-a-week cap on public transport fares
Victorian premier Ben Carroll has promised to cap public transport fares at $30 a week statewide if Labor wins the November 2026 election. The plan would start 1 January, cost $206 million, run two years to December 2028, and save regular commuters $1,400 a year. Concession fares would be capped at $15 a week.
