National pledges 10-year jail term for silence in child murder cases
National says, if re-elected, it would remove the right to silence where a child under 12 is killed. Justice spokesperson Paul Goldsmith said it would become a Crimes Act offence for those present to fail to give police information, RNZ reported. The offence would carry a minimum 10-year prison sentence.
