Israel to hold first election since October 7 attack on Oct. 27

Israel will hold a parliamentary election October 27 for the 26th Knesset, Israel's 120-seat parliament. It is the first national vote since the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. Polling shows a close race between Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party and the far-right coalition it leads and Jewish-led opposition parties, with neither reaching 61 seats for a majority.
