US inflation accelerates to 3.7% as Wall Street tumbles

US annual inflation accelerated to 3.7% in September, the Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index shows. The same index shows gas prices surged 34% year over year. Reuters reported hotter-than-expected data sent Wall Street tumbling on 14 October. Deadline reported the Nasdaq fell 1.9%, the S&P 500 shed 1.1% and the Dow lost about 50 points.
