Albania Protests Escalate as Education Ministry Is Entered, Fire Set

Protesters entered Albania's Education Ministry overnight Oct. 13-14 and set a fire inside, police said. The break-in came on the third day of student protests in Tirana. Police said 16 more people were arrested after overnight clashes with riot police — officers trained for crowd unrest. Deputy Prime Minister Albana Kociu urged students to reject violence.
