Google Messages Adds Optional Cloud-Based Scam Detection

Google Messages will add opt-in 'enhanced protection' in the coming weeks. Cloud-based Gemini models — Google's AI systems running on remote servers — will review full conversations from unknown senders for signs of scam intent, supplementing existing on-device checks to catch new, sophisticated attacks. Google says data stays encrypted in an isolated system it or anyone else cannot access.
