NYC Leaders Agree to Ban Horse Carriages by June 2028
New York City will ban horse-drawn carriages starting June 1, 2028, under a deal between Mayor Zohran Mamdani and Council Speaker Julie Menin. The City Council votes next week. The plan ends efforts since 2010 to outlaw the rides, revived after horse deaths and a tourist's fatal fall from a carriage.
