Amex Launches Check for AI Agent Purchases

American Express on Oct. 13, 2026 introduced its Intent Intelligence Framework to confirm a shopper's intent before an AI assistant pays. A Create Intent API, a software link that stores merchant, budget and preferences, logs the plan for customer authentication and approval. Amex hopes it becomes an industry standard for AI-powered transactions.
